Servanthood: Sunday Service with Pastor Kong March 09

Hi guys! I hope you enjoyed Pastor Kong's preaching yesterday. Here are some of my notes from the service.

3 Keys to Promotion

Luke 16:10-11 (Amplified Bible)

He who is faithful in a very little [thing] is faithful also in much, and he who is dishonest and unjust in a very little [thing] is dishonest and unjust also in much.
Therefore if you have not been faithful in the [case of] unrighteous mammon (deceitful riches, money, possessions), who will entrust to you the true riches?

1. Handling Little Things (Luke 16:10) :

Ø Attention to details: reflection of our attitude and character
Ø God is watching how we are faithful in doing the little things.
Ø Excellence: is the attention given to details that leads to superior performance:

People of the Bible who showed an excellent spirit:
1. Moses: He made the tabernacle exactly according to the pattern set by God.
2. Daniel: Lived a life of excellence
Ø If you can work without supervision, your promotion is guaranteed

2. Handling Finances (Luke 16:11):

Ø Includes tithes, pledges, offerings, and vows
Ø God is looking at how we handle our finances in our everyday life
Ø If we are faithful in fulfilling our obligations financially we will be given true riches as a reward

3. Handling what belongs to others (Luke 16:11):

Ø Handling other people’s possessions
Ø Treating other people’s loved ones
Ø Carrying the vision and dreams of the person you are serving
Ø If we are responsible in handling the things entrusted to us we will be given authority.
Ø Remember: God always sends a person. Not a product, not an idea – a person. God sends a person He can entrust authority to influence and change authority.

Four Dimensions of Servanthood

1. Depth: We are to serve GOD.

Ø Colossians 1:16

For it was in Him that all things were created, in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, whether thrones, dominions, rulers, or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [by His service, intervention] and in and for Him.

Ø Are you serving God’s will in your life?

2. Height: We are to serve our leaders

o Elisha: He was the personal servant of Elijah; for him nothing was too demeaning (2 Kings 3:11). He qualified himself to receive the double portion because he was willing to be a servant.
o Aaron and Hur: They served Moses by lifting his hands in prayer during the battle between the Israelites and the Amalekites.
Are you supporting and praying your leaders?
o Joshua: Served Moses. He was willing to fight for Moses even in the trenches. He became as passionate for God as Moses was (Exodus 33:11)
o Jesus even served John the Baptist: Jesus supported the ministry of John the Baptist – water baptism. Even if He did not need to be water baptized he submitted to it.
o Authority flows from the TOP DOWN.
o All authority trickles from God. We all live in borrowed authority.
o Authority flows in relationships
o Realm of righteousness: To do as you are told – coming under the covering of God.

3. Width: We are to serve one another (Matt. 20:28). Jesus came to serve other people. If Jesus can serve imperfect people like us, why can’t we serve one another? Don’t let ego or pride stop you from serving in God’s House.

4.Length: We are to serve the world.
o Daniel: He served a wicked king.
o Servanthood is not what you say, but what you do.
So friends, let's make servanthood our highest aspiration!
Have a blessed&anointed week ahead!
